A Healing Lick by Twokinds A Healing Lick by Twokinds
Flora is such a gentle person... most of the time. In all likelihood, she was probably the one who inflicted those wounds, but at least she's willing to set things right. Licking a wound is a strong instinct in Keidran, who believe it aids in the healing process.

Very nice tradition :) but from medical perceptive it is not recommended unless her defence system in her blood is more effective then human.

I am pretty sure the acid in the saliva would actually help.

Would it?  I'd be more concerned about germs and infection.

The chemicals in the saliva of a k-9 have been known to help flight off infection. But they also contain bacteria so it would do both.

There are chemicals in saliva that assists in clotting blood and fighting off infection. Though it doesn't speed up healing directly, it allows the body to focus more energy into the healing process. These chemicals are actually present in human saliva, and licking you own wounds will help them heal. Just make sure you have good dental hygiene and don't leave too much spit on your cuts.

I'm not kidding.

This is a true thing. Saliva has stuff that coagulates blood. This is particularly true in vampire bats, but it's true for most anything, I think.

Actually, vampire bat saliva contains powerful anticoagulants that prolong bleeding.
